Cultural Activities for Centennial Celebrations of the Founding of PUMC -- “PUMC Spirit Cultivates My Mind” Speech Contest Held


Through a century of trials and hardships, PUMC has been forging ahead in an unyielding spirit. May 28, 2017 marks the 120th day before the centennial celebrations of the founding of Peking Union Medical College (PUMC). On the day, the “PUMC Spirit Cultivates My Mind” Speech Contest was held successfully at the small auditorium of PUMC, officially starting the cultural activities of the celebrations. The activity was jointly organized byChineseAcademyof Medical Sciences andPekingUnionMedicalCollege(CAMS&PUMC) Office for the Centennial Celebrations, theGraduateSchool, theSchoolofHumanitiesand Social Sciences, andCAMS&PUMCNewsCenter. Present at the contest were Vice President Zhongwei Zheng, Deputy Party Secretary Yunfeng Wang, leaders of theGraduateSchool, leaders of relevant departments of CAMS&PUMC, leaders of institutes in charge of education, Head of the Department of Education, and special guests.


The activity began at 2 o’clock p.m. The contestants came from different institutes and went all out during the exciting contest, which was sometimes in a solemn atmosphere and sometimes in a lively atmosphere.


After the contest ended, Meijuan Zhao, Director of the Basic Teaching Department of theChinese PLA GeneralHospital, who was also a special guest of the contest, commented on the contest in a professional way, benefiting the audience a lot. Three contestants won the first prize, six contestants won the second prize, and seven contestants won the third prize. The above prizes were presented by Vice President Zhongwei Zheng and Deputy Party Secretary Yunfeng Wang.



The contest ended amid warm applauses and merry music. It did end, but the centennial celebrations are still on the way. Let’s look forward to the moment together!
