The “Announcement Ceremony of the Ranking of Chinese Hospital Technology Impact Year 2017 ” Was Held in Beijing


On December 19, the “Announcement Ceremony of the Ranking of Chinese Hospital Technology Impact of Year 2017 and the Fifth China Medical Science Development Forum” sponsored by Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS), and organized by the CAMS Institute of Medical Information was held at the CAMS auditorium. Director Qing Yang of the Department of Science, Technology, and Education, Vice President Min Yang of the China Doctors Association, and over 300 experts and scholars from tertiary hospitals and research institutes nationwide participated in the announcement ceremony.

At the “Fifth China Medical Science Development Forum”, Academician Jie He of the Cancer Hospital affiliated to the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS), Academician Hualiang Jiang of the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica (SIMM) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and Professor Yong Huang of the West China Hospital of Sichuan University presented impressive keynote speaches on cancer control, development of biological medicine in China, and big data development in hospitals respectively. Academician Jie He shared his ideas, suggestions and strategies on cancer control at the national level from the perspective of the Cancer Hospital and the National Cancer Center, and explored the planning map, blueprint, and reality on the construction of research-based hospitals. Academician Hualiang Jiang presented a strategy on how to offer Chinese wisdom and Chinese solutions in light of new medicine making and the grim situation facing China, and shared cases of long-term treatment of brain disease patients of cerebropathic physiques in 971 in light of the layout of new technologies of the Institute of Materia Medica (SIMM) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Professor Yong Huang, in light of the design, management, and application of big data in the West China Hospital, explained the demands on modern health technological innovation and the characteristics and structure of medical big data. The reports featured distinctive themes and rich contents.  




Next, the “Chinese Hospital Technology Impact Rankings Year 2017” was formally released. President Xuetao Cao of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS) and Peking Union Medical College (PUMC) pointed out in his address that hospitals, as important parts of the national medical technological innovation system, are the main fronts for medical technological innovation, and more importantly the central bases for training medical technicians. To evaluate the medical technologies of hospitals is a sustainable fundamental task promoting the innovation-driven development of medical technologies in response to China’s establishment of a standardized evaluation system. In the course of promoting the implementation of the great initiative of medical technological innovation, the medical community should have a correct orientation for stimulating medical technological innovation. Director Qing Yang stressed that the CPC Central Committee and the State Council attach great importance to technological evaluation work, and that the “Research on Evaluation of Chinese Hospital Technology Impact” conducted by the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS) further emphasizes and defines the important role of hospital technological activities in the medical innovation system and their important value and impact on promoting the development of hospital innovation and medical technological progress. 




Director Hui Chi of the CAMS Institute of Medical Information announced the “Year 2017 Chinese Hospital Technology Impact Rankings” with an in-depth interpretation. According to Director Chi, for the “ Year 2017 Chinese Hospital Technology Impact Rankings”, the evaluation index system has been revised, with the inclusion of a national key R & D program index and the addition of a technological result transfer and transformation index, and an outstanding talent index encouraging young technological talents to participate in technological innovation; the scope of hospital evaluated has been expanded from 1,325 hospitals to 1,629 hospitals; the coverage of subjects for evaluation has been expanded from 26 subjects to 29 by adding the three subjects - burn surgery, emergency medicine, and nursing. The rankings in 2017 have also improved the accuracy of subject classification, and the hospital data review mechanism.  

Finally, leaders and experts in the meeting issued tablets and certificates to the ten top hospitals in comprehensive ranking and hospitals having subjects ranking the top three in the “2017 Annual Chinese Hospital Technology Impact Rankings”.

Director Zhaofeng Zhang of the Division of Social Development and Technology of the Ministry of Science and Technology attended the meeting. Vice President Zhongwei Zheng and Vice President Xue Zhang of the CAMS and PUMC attended and presided over the meeting.

The Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS), as a national research institute of medical science, while conducting research and explorations in the fundamental, central, and frontier fields of medical science, also plays an important role in constructing a comprehensive, forward-looking, and high-end think tank with unique characteristics in the field of national medical and health. The CAMS Institute of Medical Information issued “Chinese Hospital Technology Impact Rankings” for three years on a row from 2014 to 2016, and conducted explorative and pioneering work in the field of hospital technology evaluation in light of the available research and practical experience at home and abroad. The rankings have received extensive social attention. In 2017, the opinions and suggestions of various social circles were considered to further expand the scope of evaluation, improve evaluation indexes, optimize evaluation methods, and standardize evaluation processes. The Year 2017 Chinese Hospital Technology Impact Rankings cover the comprehensive rankings of hospital technology impact, the rankings of subjects with hospital technology impact, and the ranking of regions with hospital technology impact, in the hope of providing an in-depth analysis over related elements reflecting hospital technology impact, constructing a scientific and appropriate evaluation index system, and conducting research on systematic, objective and comprehensive evaluation of hospital technology impact, so as to provide new methods and tools for hospital technology management, direct at a correct orientation encouraging medical technology innovation, promote hospital subject development, boost the transformation of medical technology results for clinical application, and provide more powerful technological support for improving medical quality.
